Capital Office Products first opened its doors on a beautiful spring day in April of 1997.
…By doors, we mean garage doors.
Like most great businesses, you have to start small and with purpose. With a lot of hard work and the help of his wife and three daughters, Capital Office Products began right there in their family home. However, this dream of creating a copier company didn’t come from thin air. Bill’s history in the office equipment industry spurred the desire to create a company of his own.
After serving in the Navy he ventured into the copier world in 1987 working as a technician for Modern Office Machines in Charlotte, NC. He was promoted to the Head Regional Service Manager due to his incredible mechanical aptitude and customer service. Unfortunately, the company was soon bought out by IKON and Bill witnessed firsthand the declining level of personalized care that can sometimes come with being a part of a large corporation. This did not align with his deep-seated “customer first” belief system and he decided to create his own company where service comes first and every client matters no matter their size. Voila! Capital Office Products is born!
Service is our specialty. For over 20 years Capital Office Products has been locally owned and family operated. Bill drafted countless mission statements before finding the perfect fit; “To build relationships with customers, to exceed their expectations for quality products and service with competitive pricing on a consistent basis.”
From the family home to our central office in Columbia now, Capital Office Products has maintained the company values throughout our growth. Integrity and personalized service has always been the goal whether you’re 5 miles away or 500.
The first machine Capital Office Products ever sold was an early Xerox model to Mr. Jim Sketo of Lexington Title. We’re so happy to say he is still our customer to this day! We strive to foster long term relationships with our community.
In the early days, Bill’s three daughters earned their allowance cleaning machines
on the weekends. The eldest, Ashley, is now the office manager! His wife, Renee, is the beloved company matriarch and oversees all daily operations.
